Available Positions at TANROADS Dar es Salaam
1. Resident Engineer (1 Post)
Description:
As the team leader on-site, the Resident Engineer is responsible for all technical and administrative aspects of road construction supervision. This role includes overseeing contractors, ensuring quality control, managing project contracts, preparing progress reports, and monitoring environmental impact mitigation.
Entry Qualifications:
-
Bachelor’s Degree in Civil, Highway, or Transportation Engineering or equivalent from a recognized institution
-
At least 10 years’ experience in a related field
-
Must be registered by ERB as a Professional Engineer
Key Duties:
-
Lead all site staff and supervise contractors and operations
-
Manage work plans, quality control, contracts, and project documentation
-
Prepare reports and facilitate contractor payments
-
Monitor social/environmental measures and keep accurate records
-
Perform other duties as assigned by the Project Manager
2. Highway Engineer (1 Post)
Description:
The Highway Engineer supervises contract conformity, reviews designs, ensures benchmarks, inspects completed works, measures quantities, and reports on project progress and costs.
Entry Qualifications:

Tanzanian citizen with Bachelor’s Degree in Civil, Highway, or Transportation Engineering or equivalent

At least 7 years’ relevant experience

Registered by ERB as a Professional Engineer
Key Duties:
-
Supervise contract conditions and compliance
-
Advise Resident Engineer on design and site issues
-
Inspect and measure completed works
-
Prepare control charts and progress reports
-
Perform other duties as assigned by the Project Manager
3. Material Engineer (1 Post)
Description:
Oversee all laboratory and on-site material testing, enforce quality and calibration standards, approve materials, manage inventories, and advise on materials applications and quality.
Entry Qualifications:

Tanzanian citizen with Bachelor’s Degree in Civil, Highway, Transportation, or Structural Engineering or equivalent

At least 7 years’ relevant experience

Registered by ERB as a Professional Engineer
Key Duties:

Supervise labs and enforce QA/QC procedures
-
Approve materials and works for compliance
-
Maintain and calibrate lab equipment
-
Prepare daily materials reports
-
Advise on materials applications and review contractor reports
4. Structures Engineer (1 Post)
Description:
Responsible for reviewing, inspecting, and approving structural drawings, materials, and drainage works, and maintaining detailed records and progress reports.
Entry Qualifications:

Tanzanian citizen with Bachelor’s Degree in Civil, Highway, Transportation, or Structural Engineering or equivalent

At least 7 years’ relevant experience

Registered by ERB as a Professional Engineer
Key Duties:

Review structural drawings and reports

Approve construction materials and measured quantities

Keep comprehensive records of works and reports

Prepare mini progress reports on drainage works

Perform related duties as assigned by the Supervisor
5. Topographical Surveyor (1 Post)
Description:
Conduct and supervise land surveys, prepare and maintain maps and reports, set out project boundaries, coordinate with engineers, and ensure the accuracy of all survey work.
Entry Qualifications:

Tanzanian citizen with Bachelor’s Degree or Advanced Diploma in Land Surveying, Geomatics, or equivalent

At least 5 years’ relevant experience

Registered by NCPS as a Professional Land Surveyor
Key Duties:
-
Prepare and maintain sketches, maps, and survey reports
-
Conduct and direct land surveys, establish legal boundaries
-
Record and analyze survey results
-
Coordinate with project stakeholders
-
Maintain and adjust survey equipment
-
Determine criteria and specifications for survey methods
