Geita Gold Mining Limited (GGML or Geita mine) is located in north-western Tanzania, in the Lake Victoria goldfields of the Mwanza region, about 120km from Mwanza and 4km west of the town of Geita.

Underground mining is conducted at Nyankanga and open-pit mining at Nyamulilima via a combination of longitudinal open stoping and transverse open stoping.

A carbon-in-leach plant capable of processing hard ore has an annual capacity of 5.2Mt and is supported by an established tailings storage facility. A full workshop facility supports the maintenance of heavy mining equipment and all light support equipment. Additional infrastructure includes a mine village, medical clinic, mine store, administration buildings and airstrip.

As of 31 December 2024, the Mineral Resource is at 3.25 million ounces.

Recently, Geita mine has switched to the Tanesco grid in the next step in decarbonisation with a 6.1km electricity distribution line linking the Geita mine to Tanzania’s renewable power grid where energy is generated from hydro, thermal and biomass. The mine’s diesel usage for power generation is expected to drop by an estimated 80% and carbon emissions by at least 50Kt CO2.
