DCB Commercial Bank Plc, originally established as Dar es Salaam Community Bank in 2001, is a publicly traded financial institution headquartered in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. It commenced operations in April 2002 as a regional microfinance institution and transitioned to a fully-fledged commercial bank in 2012, expanding its services nationwide. Notably, DCB was the first bank in Tanzania to be listed on the Dar es Salaam Stock Exchange (DSE) in 2008 .

Services and Operations

DCB offers a comprehensive range of banking services tailored to individuals, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), and corporate clients. Its product portfolio includes:

  • Accounts: Savings, student, joint, young saver, solidarity group, Bamba, royal, and corporate accounts.

  • Loans: Salaried, housing microfinance, digital salary advance, school fees, Jikopeshe Kidijitali, VICOBA, Ushirika, SACCOS, NGUVU MOJA, SME group, and solidarity group lending.

  • Trade Finance: Telegraphic transfers, letters of credit, documentary collections, bill discounting, contract financing, and bank guarantees.

  • Other Services: Asset financing, insurance, foreign currency services, money market services, treasury bills, bond investments, fixed income trading, internet and mobile banking, and electronic money transfers .

The bank operates through a network of 9 branches, over 1,000 DCB Wakala agents, and more than 280 Umoja Switch ATMs, serving over 3 million customers across Tanzania .

As of the first half of 2024, DCB reported:

  • Total Assets: TZS 258.9 billion

  • Customer Deposits: TZS 135.8 billion

  • Loans and Advances: TZS 136.8 billion

In late 2024, the bank successfully raised its capital by 71.6% through a rights issue, increasing from TZS 15 billion to TZS 25.74 billion. This initiative aimed to strengthen its financial position and support future growth, with a target capital of TZS 61 billion by 2028 .
