PURPOSE OF THE ROLE:
The purpose of the role is to operate heavy equipment efficiently to extract and load materials in a safe and controlled manner, while meeting production targets, supporting operational efficiency, and enhancing the overall safety and productivity of mining operations.

QUALIFICATIONS:
• Completion of Secondary School Education.
• The applicants must have completed a formal operating course and hold a valid certificate from a recognized institution.
• The incumbent must have a valid Tanzanian driving license class F, (practical interview will be part of the interview process.)

EXPERIENCE:
• A minimum of 5 years of working experience in Mining.

MAIN OR KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
• Perform thorough pre- and post-operation inspections of the excavator, ensuring all safety protocols are followed and the equipment is in optimal working condition.
• Accurately interpret and execute the mining production plan to minimize rework, ensuring efficient material excavation and handling while meeting production targets.
• Execute loading operations into Dump Trucks, ensuring the proper weight distribution and adherence to Equipment KPIs, including the effective use of fleet management systems.
• Collaborate with Truck Operators, Geology teams, FMS Coordinators, and other relevant personnel to optimize production, manage material flow, and maintain clear, efficient communication.
• Interpret demarcation tapes to distinguish between ore, waste, and restricted zones; ensure proper wall clean-up, side casting, and the safe handling of large boulders to maintain operational efficiency.
• Provide hands-on guidance and training to new excavator operators, while offering directions to Truck and Dozer Operators in the loading area to ensure safe, efficient, and coordinated operations.
• Assist in creating and maintaining access roads, ramps, and safe pedestrian pathways, and perform digging and backfilling as needed to support mining operations.
• Adhere to all health, safety, and environmental policies, promptly reporting any incidents, near misses, or safety hazards to supervisors to maintain a safe work environment.
• Ensure housekeeping standards are met around the equipment, while following maintenance schedules and operational instructions as outlined by supervisors.
• Actively contribute suggestions for improvements to mining operations, safety practices, and performance KPIs, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and ensuring adherence to zero-harm safety standards.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
• Proven ability to operate and maintain an excavator safely and efficiently, particularly in mining environments.
• Solid knowledge of mining safety regulations, procedures, and hazard awareness.
• Strong attention to detail with high situational awareness in dynamic field conditions.
• Ability to perform basic pre- and post-operation equipment inspections.
• Capability to follow instructions and perform tasks with minimal supervision.
• Good physical stamina and endurance to work long shifts in demanding conditions.
• Effective communication skills for clear coordination with team members and supervisors.
• Strong time and priority management to meet operational targets.
• Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills.
• Sharp field observational skills to detect safety and operational issues early.
• Ability to make timely, practical decisions under pressure.
• Commitment to teamwork, cooperation, and maintaining a safe work environment.
• A strong understanding and consistent application of safety requirements and zero-harm culture.
