The key purpose of this role is to safely operate and maintain the Packaging plant to produce a consistent product/service/utility of the right quality/quantity at optimum cost.

Key Roles and Responsibilities:
Operate Packaging Plant and Equipment:

• Prepare for plant start up
• Start-up plant
• Run the plant
• Shut down the plant
• Execute cleaning of plant
• Complete all documentation
• Control inputs usage
• Ensure plant is in working order
• Safe maintenance practices

Maintain Safe and Healthy Work Environment:

• Operate the equipment according to the work instructions and adhering to safe working practices at all times
• Maintain the equipment according to good maintenance practice

Monitor and control the Packaging Process:

• Measure performance attributes
• Record performance attributes
• Monitor and evaluate trends
• Assure quality of inputs
• Initiate corrective action
• Perform autonomous maintenance
• Prepare for maintenance tasks
• Conduct autonomous maintenance tasks
• Conduct breakdown maintenance tasks

Perform Autonomous Maintenance:

• Prepare for maintenance tasks
• Conduct autonomous maintenance tasks
• Conduct breakdown maintenance tasks

Work in Teams:

• Communicate effectively in the workplace
• Contribute to self and team development

Plant Performance:

• Packaging Shift efficiencies
• Product/Service/Utility Quality
• Product/Service/Packaging Quality checks as per required frequencies
• Usage ratios

Minimum Requirements:

• Full Craft Certificate
• Relevant Qualification in Mechanical and/or Electromechanical Engineering
• 3-6 months on the job training
• 1 year in manufacturing industry
• Qualified, trade-tested artisan – Ideal
