Purpose of the Role

The Technical Aid 2 provides essential technical and logistical support to Technicians and Geologists, ensuring the seamless execution of all geological field work and drilling operations within and outside GGML premises. The role is critical for maintaining efficient operation of the Coreyard and upholding compliance with site standards.

Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities

The role holder will focus on safety, field operations, and Coreyard integrity:

1. Field Operations and Drilling Support

• Coordination: Coordinate the work of geological assistants and ensure all field gear is sorted and available for scheduled tasks.
• Sample Management (Field): Collect field samples during surface geological mapping as instructed, ensuring they are well labelled and delivered to the Coreyard Technician/Supervisor.
• Drilling Oversight: When assigned to drill rigs, ensure drill pads are inspected prior to mobilization. Assist the technician in monitoring drilling quality, compliance with work practices, standards, and correct use of PPE.
• Consumables & Logistics: Ensure sufficient supply of sample collection consumables at the drill site and monitor the sample collection process conducted by the drilling contractor.
• Communication: Adequately liaise with the field crew responsible for drill pads preparation. Promptly inform the drilling technician or geologist-in-charge if drilling quality is violated or ground conditions are unsuitable.

2. Coreyard Duties

• Be accountable for the precise fitting of drill cores and meter marking.
• Perform sampling exactly as specified on the sample sheet provided.
• Ensure recovered samples are collected according to specifications and transferred from the drill site to the Core Yard.

3. Safety and Compliance

• Ensure established company HSE policies are well maintained and actively implemented across all areas of work.
• Comply with all Work Procedures and fully participate in their implementation.
• Be accountable for the cleanliness and general housekeeping of the work area, ensuring compliance with environmental standards.
• Work collaboratively with other team members and contractors to address all HSE concerns.
• Ensure all resources provided for the task are well maintained and fit for purpose.
