Job Description
United Bank for Africa (UBA), Africa’s Global Bank with operations across Africa, USA, UK, France, and UAE, is seeking a qualified, self-driven professional to fill the role of Branch Manager in Arusha.
Key Qualifications and Experience
- Education: A First Degree in any field.
- Experience: Retail banking experience in operations or marketing is required. The specific cognate experience varies by branch tier:
- Ten (10) years for a Mega Branch.
- Six (6) years for a Basic or Micro Branch.

Core Duties & Responsibilities
The Branch Manager will assume overall accountability for the branch’s performance, focusing on:
1. Strategy, Planning, and Leadership
- Prepare and execute annual marketing plans and strategies for liability generation and designated product ranges.
- Provide strategic direction and operational support, coaching and motivating employees to meet corporate targets.
- Effectively communicate the bank’s corporate policies, objectives, and targets to the team.
2. Business and Customer Management
- Facilitate, establish, and maintain effective relationships with new and existing customers to improve deposit liability growth and mix.
- Visit business customers, attend meetings, and represent the bank within the wider community.
- Contribute to the effective launching of new products.
3. Financial Control and Risk
- Monitor and control business office income and expenditure to ensure profitability.
- Manage branch expenditure on products and services (e.g., consumer lending, overdrafts, credit cards).
- Recommend the creation of risk assets to increase business office profitability.
- Monitor and assign targets to business officers for effective focus and achievement.
Key Performance Indicator (KPI)
- Delivery on all financial targets.
