Job Summary
Africarriers Limited is seeking an experienced and highly organized Fleet Manager to oversee and coordinate all aspects of our company’s fleet operations. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring the fleet operates efficiently, safely, and cost-effectively. This role requires a professional with a strong background in logistics and a commitment to maintaining high standards of compliance and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Fleet Operations & Management: Oversee daily fleet operations, including the timely deployment of vehicles. Develop and implement effective policies and procedures, and monitor vehicle utilization, fuel consumption, and overall performance.
- Maintenance & Repairs: Plan and schedule preventive and corrective maintenance to ensure all vehicles are roadworthy and meet safety standards. Coordinate with external workshops and service providers for all repair and servicing needs.
- Cost Control & Reporting: Manage the fleet budget, track fuel expenses and repair costs, and generate comprehensive performance and cost reports for senior management.
- Driver & Staff Management: Supervise, train, and evaluate drivers and support staff. Monitor driver performance, ensuring compliance with company policies and safety regulations. Develop and implement training programs focused on defensive driving and fuel economy.
Qualifications & Experience
- Education: A Bachelor’s Degree in Logistics, Transport Management, Business Administration, Mechanical/Automotive Engineering, or a related field is required. Professional certifications in fleet management or logistics are a plus.
- Experience: A minimum of 5 years of proven experience in fleet management, transport operations, or logistics is essential. Experience managing large, mixed fleets (light and heavy vehicles) is highly preferred.
- Skills:
- Strong leadership, supervisory, and communication skills.
- Proficiency in fleet management systems, GPS tracking, and Microsoft Office.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Solid understanding of transport regulations and compliance.
- High level of integrity and attention to detail.
